About this artwork

This painting and this series was born out of a desire to experiment with textures and weaves and bring two seemingly disparate elements of Bengal in one frame. I pay homage to the skilled craftsmen of the exquisite and timeless Bengal Tant Saree and the Hand pulled rickshaw - both unique to Bengal. The rickshaw puller's muscles strain, a symbol of tireless effort. This artwork is a woven tapestry of human tenacity, framed by cultural motifs that… sing a narrative steeped in tradition. Its presence in your space is a constant reminder of strength against adversity, gracing your home with a spirit of perseverance and deep-rooted vitality. This painting will be shipped as is, stretched on wood. It cannot be rolled as the delicate cotton of the Tant Saree on which the painting is done, is glued onto a mounted canvas which is stretched on wood - to give it strength.

Anukta Mukherjee Ghosh is an Indian artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally , and internationally in the prestigious Florence Biennale in Italy and in the United Arab Emirates. Inspired by the spaces she inhabits, the places she visits, and the people she meets, she enjoys freeing the captured images in her mind onto canvas. Ghosh's landscapes and figurative works celebrate the diversity of her country. Her paintings and commissioned projects adorn homes and prestigious corporate houses, hotels and restaurants across India and worldwide in the US, UK, New Zealand, Netherlands, Germany and Dubai. Anukta has also been felicitated by the Govt.of India for her work on a national Women's Empowerment portal. She works across all mediums though mostly in acrylic. Her style is contemporary realism, with elements of abstract. Her interest lies in composition and interplay of colors.
