About this artwork
With its feet in the water near the city center of Marseille, Malmousque is a village concealing many treasures, including its cove. This is a safe anchorage for boats with little slippage which are most often hauled up on board. Unsurprisingly, you can access it via the street “Va à la Calanque”, preferably on foot as parking spaces are rare.
In this oil work, I have captured the essence of a Mediterranean port, bathed in light. My brushstrokes… bring the moored boats to life, reflecting the deep, tranquil blues of the sea, framed by the typical colorful architecture. Every detail tells a story of serenity, distant horizons and picturesque coastal life, a true haven for the soul, introducing a harmonious ambiance into one's home.
« What's the point of trying to reinvent images when those around us are so beautiful, and all we have to do is reproduce them as faithfully as possible. »
Arnaud Feuga is an artist based in France whose works have been exhibited nationally and in the United States. With a background as a marine biology researcher, naturally, his favorite themes relate to the sea. However, Feuga also creates distinctive and realistic figurative compositions which include portraits and cinema-inspired pieces. He paints exclusively using oils on canvas.
