About this artwork
In this oil work, I capture the essence of the figurative with a modern twist. I infused passion and emotion into the play of colors and the dynamics of shapes to evoke a feeling of timeless reverie. Based on a painting by the French neoclassicist Jérôme-Martin Langlois (1779-1838) presented at the Salon of 1822 following a royal commission of 1817 intended for the Palace of Versailles. Inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses, the scene represents on the… right, Endymion sleeping, his right arm folded under his head and lying on a panther's skin; he holds a javelin in his left hand, his dog is at his feet, and a flying love lifts the drapery in which he was enveloped. On the left, Diane, the quiver on her shoulder, suspended. This painting is not simply an image, it is a window open to a mythical story, an invitation to immerse oneself in imagination and enchantment. It will bring a captivating energy to your interior, awakening sensuality and mystery.
« What's the point of trying to reinvent images when those around us are so beautiful, and all we have to do is reproduce them as faithfully as possible. »
