About this artwork
The basis for these works are paper stencils that I use to create large geometric oil paintings. These paper stencils cover a freshly painted canvas in a uniform row. After removing the paper, a grid pattern appears on the canvas. I have collected the paper scraps, which still bear traces of oil paint from my palette knife, over the years. In 2024, it suddenly became clear to me what they are. They are the space between things, a piece of air.
And into this "air" I place a few marks and lines, so that rhythms emerge and figurative scenes can be suggested. Diffuse, like in a dream.
