About this artwork
I captured the vastness of the sky, when I was a flight attendant, and discovered a human face and his hat, immortalizing the face of Vincent Van Gogh with his ethereal dance through the clouds. This photograph belongs to the series "Painters in the clouds"
Vincent Willem van Gogh March 30, 1853 - Auvers-sur-Oise, July 29, 1890) was a Dutch painter, one of the main exponents of post-impressionism.
He painted about 800 paintings (among them 43… self-portraits and 148 watercolors) and made more than 1,600 drawings. A central figure in his life was his younger brother Theo, an art dealer in Paris, who provided him with continuous and selfless financial support. The great friendship between them is documented in the numerous letters that were exchanged since August 1872. Of the 800 letters that remain from the painter, about 650 were for Theo; the others are correspondence with friends and family.
« I wanted to be a pilot, but I ended up painting. Now I fly higher. »
Arturo Prins is an exciting Spanish artist whose style comes from a sensibility of play, discipline, freedom and rebellion, redoubled in a constant reinvention of himself. Thematically, Prins looks to delve into metaphysics, symbolism, esoteric cosmogony, while mixing in humor to soften the transcendent themes in his work. He also describes his work as being "nostalgic for the future, sometimes with a nod to the eclectic spiritualism between East and West."
