About this artwork
Directly behind my studio there is a large meadow that leads directly into a forest. This means I am lucky enough to be able to observe and hear many wild animals. The distinctive "barking" of the roebuck or the cry of the tawny owl and eagle owl are part of my life almost every day. I associate roe deer with something dynamic, light and positive and I try to reflect this view of roe deer in my pictures.
The frame is part of the picture and is designed… according to the picture.
The combination of abstraction and figuration is particularly important to me, because the animal depicted is always moving in real life. This movement and lightness should be captured by a certain degree of abstraction and give the picture dynamism and lightness.
