About this artwork
There wasn't a morning in Africa that I woke up and wasn't happy. My trip to South Africa around 2 years ago was my inspiration for this picture, which shows the backdrop of Cape Town.
The work of art captures the magic of this country and this city.
Acrylic paints and pastel chalks were used for this work of art, which were applied in layers. The work of art has a size of 60cm x 50cm, was stretched on a 3.5 cm deep frame and can be hung without… an additional frame.
« Art washes away the dust of everyday life from the soul. »
Barbara Piller is an Austrian mixed-media artist. Her vibrant, expressive works are found in private collections worldwide. With an intuitive, joyful approach, she draws inspiration from everyday life, music, and emotions, transforming them into colorful, multi-layered compositions. Movement and stillness, intuition and structure enter into an energetic dialogue—an expression of her understanding of art as an emotional language and a place of freedom.
She works with acrylic paints, chalk, oil and pastel pencils, markers, spray paint, and collage elements, creating a harmonious interplay of diverse techniques. The layering and contrasts reflect the complexity of human experience. With her art, Piller celebrates joie de vivre, authenticity, and positive energy—an invitation to pause, feel, and rediscover the joy of discovery.
