About this artwork
In this acrylic on canvas, allegorical tableau, humanity - embodied as a child - attempts to return divine authority to God in the aftermath of its own destructive freedom. The burning village and collapsing church evoke a post-theological world; the offered globus cruciger symbolizes the plea for restored order. God’s refusal, softened by the presence of cherubs, expresses both judgment and affirmation: the human condition is now self-determined.… The textured sculptural folds of the mantle anchor the metaphysical exchange in tactile form. The work reflects on responsibility, autonomy, and the irreversible passage from divine governance to human agency.
