Mathias Mendez, alias BEBAR, is a contemporary French painter born in 1993 in Vitry-sur-Seine. Influenced by his dual French-Spanish culture, he developed a passion for drawing very early on, which he used as a child to channel his energy.
Coming from the Parisian graffiti scene, he signed his first walls in 2010 and quickly joined the MAC Crew, the collective behind the Kosmopolite festival, one of the first international graffiti festivals in France.
He then pursued training at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Parsons School of Design in New York. From this dialogue between urban culture and academic approach emerged a unique pictorial style blending abstraction, fragmented figures and organic compositions.
Known for his colorful neo-muralism visible in the streets of Paris, Montreal or New York, BEBAR now divides his time between France and the United States, constantly exploring the boundaries between street painting and studio work.
