There were times in earlier years when I was not in the mood to paint but was in the mood to do something. I would often do minimalist pen and ink renderings just for fun. I drew Alien faces, fanciful animals, hypothetical landscapes. and hypothetical buildings. This is another example of an Alien face.
Inspired by his father, painter and photographer Ben Hotchkiss started with watercolors and then moved onto oils. Embracing the concept of a visual explorer, Hotchkiss develops an experimental and intuitive style, unafraid to indulge creative impulses. His abstract art is a captivating communication of freeform energy, seeking to resonate with some and not all, mirroring the unpredictability of human preferences.
Mr Hotchkiss had his artwork represented in Chelsea NYC, first at Louise Ross and eventually Ricco Maresca gallery and solo shows and exhibited at several Manhattan Outsider Art fairs. His artwork graced the cover and interior article of Non Profit magazine in Winter 2008. His work is also collected in The Museum of Everything, The Monty Blanchard collection, and the Intuit Museum in Chicago. https://www.riccomaresca.com/blog/58-portfolio-ben-hotchkiss/
