About this artwork
Rugla Swepum is a series of abstract paintings developed from spontaneous sketches created in everyday life. Enlarged onto aluminum panels and painted with vibrant varnish, the works combine bold colors, fragmented forms, and dynamic lines.
Balancing between chaos and order, abstraction and familiarity, the compositions invite viewers to discover their own meanings and associations. Rooted in personal experiences of joy, loss, doubt, courage, and… transformation, the series reflects the complexity of life itself.
Rugla Swepum explores how seemingly disconnected fragments can form a complete whole, revealing beauty in contrast, contradiction, and change.
Benjamin Siegenthaler is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in stone sculpture, working across drawing, painting, collage, installation, and scenography. His practice blends precise craftsmanship with spontaneous intuition, combining organic forms, bold outlines, and playful but refined abstraction in both two- and three-dimensional works. Through tensions between order and chaos, landscape and city, and closeness and distance, he conveys a sense of hopeful openness, inviting reflection, connection, and wonder amidst unresolved contradictions.
