About this artwork
« I often have my head in my colors, but my feet are firmly planted on the ground. »
Benoît Guérin adopts a resolutely abstract approach, where colors and materials meet in an instinctive and spontaneous impulse. Working primarily in acrylic, he sometimes combines inks and walnut stains, mixing the colors directly on the canvas. Painting on the floor, he physically immerses himself in the creation, where each gesture—scraping, crushing, throwing—gives birth to vibrant and textured works. Black, omnipresent in his compositions, sculpts light and reveals striking contrasts. Rooted in abstraction, his landscapes also offer a transformed vision of reality. Colors combine or clash to create new sensations. His art, constantly evolving, reflects a quest for balance between instinct and reflection, always driven by the desire to renew himself.
His workshop can be seen in Vouillé, in Deux-Sèvres.
