About this artwork
Panel 1:
A group settles somewhere on the planet, builds structures, and unites under a flag—black, red, and gold—as a symbol of shared identity. As the society grows stronger than its neighbours, a crisis hits. Agitators rise, shifting blame outward and urging invasion to solve internal problems.
Panel 2:
The invasion succeeds. The black-red-gold society reshapes the conquered land in its own image, exploiting it. Propaganda intensifies: a “Promised… Land” awaits, and only the One can lead them there.
Panel 3:
After the fall of the Two, the One pushes forward, erasing cultural differences in pursuit of dominance. But the promise of unity is an illusion—what follows is not glory, but collapse.
Bernd Caspar Dietrich works as a painter, sculptor, and installation artist with materials such as cement, clay, pigment, acrylic, glass, and gold – inspired by his studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and international influences. His technique is process-oriented, material-based, and oscillates between abstraction and symbolism, combining classical with unconventional materials and often allowing for cracks, layering, and erosion. His works are deeply moving, inviting reflection on social responsibility, change, and the fragility of our world – creating a poetic-political experiential space full of tension.
