About this artwork
The Fall of the Buddha is an artistic attempt to reverse the values of religious appropriation based on historical and cultural standards. The fall culminates in a metamorphosis, a further development of religious symbolism. The question arises: what is more eternal than the veneration of a religious symbol, its essence or its visible manifestation?
ARTIST STATEMENT Further information: https://berndschlothauermaler.de (This website contains all exhibition and work catalogues for paintings, drawings, objects, books, catalogues and texts, as well as media presence in the menu areas) My entire development as an artist and painter has been and continues to be characterized by inspiration and self-reflection. Style is foreign to me, although upon closer inspection of my work the author is clearly and unmistakably recognizable. I subordinate my forms of expression to the specific topic I am currently working on.
