About this artwork
This painting belongs to Besik Arbolishvili’s mature “Angels” cycle — a defining body of work characterized by strong chromatic contrast and a timeless symbolic language.
The red angel, marked by a golden halo and restrained gesture, reflects the artist’s late-period focus on spiritual presence rather than narrative illustration.
Works from this cycle are rarely released and are typically held in long-term private collections, valued for their consistency,… recognizability, and museum-scale presence.

« For viewers who like art-it’s beauty. For an artist it’s like a machine of time. »
Besik Arbolishvili (b. 1955, Georgia) is a Georgian painter whose career spans over four decades. He graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in Art History and Pedagogy (1981), and later in Fine Arts (1986). A representative of the 1980s generation of Georgian artists, his work reflects the shift from Soviet realism toward more symbolic and introspective forms. His practice includes portraiture, still life, landscape, and compositions with spiritual or mythological themes. Arbolishvili’s visual language is marked by tonal subtlety and structural harmony, drawing on Georgian traditions and broader European influences. Since 1976, he has exhibited in Georgia and abroad, including Germany, the UK, Russia, France, Turkey, Italy, Kuwait, and the USA. His works are held in collections such as the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery (Tbilisi), the Otto Pankok Museum (Germany), and the Moscow Museum of Oriental Art. Besik's artowrk, "Winter”, was selected for the Samsung The Frame online catalog and is available on the Samsung Frame platform.
