About this artwork
Concrete pergolas, a geometric construction on a beach recalls a detail of a minimalist structure intended to cast shadow. The horizontal and vertical use of technical drawing tools and acrylics in complementary colours creates an illusion of space and depth in this semi-abstract evocation of a construction site.
Thick acrylic paint is applied with technical drawing tools, using a two-point perspective to enhance the three-dimensional effect. The… first layer is enhanced by scraping, the second layer scraped again in a grid pattern to reveal the colours beneath.
