About this artwork
The "Dream Flash Series" is rooted in introspection and memory. The paintings are inspired by the incredible beauty of Hawaii, one of my favorite places on earth, in particular the island of Maui. These paintings are meant to transcend the islands and express universal feelings. The paintings are an exploration of color, with an expansive canvas to draw the viewer in. There is no meaning, no object to search for, just the experience of color, beauty,…
form, depth. They convey my impressions of Hawaii's "aloha spirit" (the coordination of mind and heart within each person), and the vibrant colors of the ocean and sky, the lush tropical landscape and the incredible, and rare "green flash" when the sun touches the ocean at sunset.
