About this artwork
In this work, I capture a quiet, intimate moment between a young woman and a swan. I am not interested in the narrative aspect, but rather in the subtle tension between closeness and reserve, between humanity and nature.
Through the watercolor technique, I was able to utilize transparency, softness, and flowing transitions to create a calm, contemplative atmosphere. Light, color, and movement are deliberately subdued to allow the viewer space for… their own feelings.
This work is part of my series "Silent Moments", in which I depict moments of inner peace, gentleness and timeless connection.
Through the watercolor technique, I was able to utilize transparency, softness, and flowing transitions to create a calm, contemplative atmosphere. Light, color, and movement are deliberately subdued to allow the viewer space for… their own feelings.

Boris Ivkov is a contemporary, self-taught painter and draftsman who works in watercolor, oil, and acrylic. His artistic focus is on the figurative representation of people, which he explores through symbolism, emotion, and light.
Particularly in watercolor, Ivkov is known for his highly controlled yet sensitive handling of the human body and skin. His technique is based on transparent layers of paint, finely nuanced wet-on-wet passages, and precise, restrained lines. Instead of clear contours, he develops form and volume through subtle shifts in tone and temperature, creating a realistic yet poetic physical presence.
A significant portion of his work is dedicated to the figurative nude. His depictions of the female nude are not intended as explicit motifs, but rather as aesthetically reduced, timeless studies of vulnerability, inner strength, and psychological depth. Several of his watercolor nudes were published in a British erotic magazine (Jade Magazine).
Ivkov's works exist in the tension between detail and resolution, realism and gentle reduction. With great sensitivity to light, physicality, and atmosphere, he creates quiet, intimate pictorial spaces that convey tranquility, contemplation, and emotional depth.
The artist was associated with a British art guild, held solo exhibitions, and garnered international acclaim. His works are held in private collections worldwide.
