About this artwork
According to legend, the Gordian Knot refers to the intricately knotted ropes on the chariot of the Phrygian king Gordius. These ropes inextricably connected the pole to the drawbar of the chariot, which was dedicated to Zeus.
The knot was unsolvable, it could not be untangled. But whoever succeeded would become ruler of Asia.
When Alexander the Great faced the challenge, he simply raised his sword and cut the knot with a single blow.
To this… day, the term "Gordian knot" is used as a synonym for overcoming a difficult problem or a seemingly unsolvable task with energetic means, coupled with courage and ingenuity, but also with violence.
Brigitte Struif explores the "language of color"—illustrating the path of inner inspiration, which materializes in a field of tension between color, form, and line. Expressive images of various styles emerge, each with a distinctive style that directly conveys intense feelings about life, small (and large?) moments of happiness, and the beauty of color. Member of the BBK Rhineland-Palatinate Mainz, the Women's Museum Bonn, KUN:ST International Stuttgart, among others. Since 2005, more than 150 national and international exhibitions.
