In this freezing month of November, Grimaud, the king's younger brother, drags his hangover and his muddy gaiters on the sticky cobblestones with stench. A sudden noise makes him jump. He does not have time to turn around when three scoundrels surround him. The one who seems to be the leader points his mercy on the throat of the stunned and furious musketeer while a sidekick with a steel grip blocks his arms.
The dark street is deserted. The archers… stopped their round a long time ago.
