About this artwork
Guilhem Bélibaste was on the crusade
to the Albigensians what Augustin Trébuchon was to the great butcher's shop.
Bélibaste was burned alive in Villerouge-Termenès in 1321 as the last known “good man” or “perfect” Cathar Occitan.
Augustin Joseph Louis Victorin was the last hairy man to die in action on November 11, 1918 in Vrigne-Meuse in the Ardennes, 10 minutes before the cease-fire.
Chance willed that they were both shepherds and unhappy expiatory… victims of the bloodthirsty insanity of the all-powerful.

« The only difference between Van Gogh and myself is that I sleep on both my ears. »
Bruno Aimetti is a painter and draftsman whose works have been exhibited nationally, in the United States, Germany, and the Netherlands. His pieces re-imagine the scenes of everyday life in a playful manner. He primarily creates using acrylics and oils on cardboard, linen, or canvas.
