About this artwork
Chicago has been the Candy Capital of the World since the late-19th century. Candymakers flocked to the city of Chicago—a fast-growing industrial city right in the middle of the country. The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, established in 1891, was originally a business built to sell soap and baking powder. The gum was released the next year as a promotional premium for clients. Wrigley sold his gum at the Chicago World’s Fair, and it quickly gained popularity.…
Wrigley was an advertising mogul in a town that would later produce disciples such as Leo Burnette and Ogilvy & Mather. The roots of many candy companies lie here, but the Wrigley name is probably the most well-known, and a staple for gum-chewing Chicagoans.

« "The more you do, the less you wait", my style is constantly evolving with each new piece I create. »
Bumpy Wilson (b. 1995) is a Chicago, based Contemporary Artist who creates highly personal paintings that assert his unique style somewhere between Pop Minimalism and Magical Surrealism. His oeuvre is subtly culled from the art world itself and most notably depicts cows, basketball hoops, and seemingly random objects. Through his art, he is able to evoke puns as art forms, providing a play on words for his ever-expanding discursive material.
