The rhythms of color circulate in the infinitely tiny and the infinitely gigantic. They travel across the sky and the ocean.
I compose the work on a magnificent cotton paper that restores the power of the pigments.
Each color is custom-made; I mix binders and pigments for a unique result.
The gold leaf provides its soft and warm texture.
A great deal of transparency is also achieved thanks to the mineral mother-of-pearls and their brilliant effects.

Catherine Champeyrol, aka CACHAM, is a painter. What happens to color when we close our eyes? This exploration of color sensations with closed eyelids has nourished my inspiration since childhood.
In my color laboratory, I develop unique, intense and radiant shades, using interfering pigments, mother-of-pearl, metal foils, lacquers and varnishes.
My universe is nourished by an intimate and universal experience: facing the sun with my eyes closed.
I play with perceptions through the repetition of a simple shape: the circle. With this shape, the gaze plunges into the infinitely small or soars into the infinitely large.
I compose sensory abstractions full of transparencies and brilliance, with superimposed layers of fine materials. I make forms levitate, I express a colorful jubilation.
My works convey a vibrant energy that awakens the memory of light and the universal joy of color.
