In this painting, I delve into the intricacies of the unseen, capturing the dance between darkness and whispers of light. I use flashe, pastel, graphite, and pigments to craft a sense of deep metaphysical exploration. The dark canvas, streaked with subtle hints of iridescence, reflects a journey into the profound depths of a crush.
this painting changes form throughout the day, responding to light. I worked with ultra matte vinyl black and acrylic… black to create the morphing forms. the graphite is at times almost invisible then shining through; the clear form of a woman holding a dark moon in her arms, a dinosaur in the upper left, a looming male figure here, a spunky young woman there, morphing in and out of view, depending on the time of day and the angle of the view. the now you see it, now you don’t, always in the dark expression of the painting depicts the nature of a relationship between avoidantly and anxiously attached people.

Schumacher's practice embodies the beliefs she lives — that love is the life force creating all; everything fundamentally the same energy, infinitely expressed. She calls this Love In All Its Frequencies – LIAIF – indefinable by nature, always in service to love's evolution.
She enters each creative process with prayer and surrender, allowing her body to be the instrument through which LIAIF creates. Nothing is withheld. What moves through her body in the making is often unbearable. What arrives on the canvas is beauty. She has come to understand this as the meaning of alchemy: through allowing, lead becomes gold. In a world drowning in pain it cannot process, reason through, justify or repair, she offers this as a possibility – when we turn towards what is here, transformation naturally occurs.
Her paintings carry a Rorschach-like quality, every viewer seeing something different. In this way, the paintings remain alive, becoming uniquely personal in the eye of each beholder.
