About this artwork
For the group exhibition we had to identify a master and produce something from their range. I chose Rembrandt.
But drawing from my influence of South African rock art from a recent trail run in the Drakensburg I worked in some Khoi-San drawings.
In this work I blended figurative and symbolic elements to capture inner turmoil and primal spirit. The textured layers invite you to explore depths of identity and instinct. This piece radiates an intense,… contemplative energy that will ignite introspection and conversation in any space it inhabits.
