About this artwork
Original mixed media oil painting of the ocean, as seen through the champagne-pewter Porthole frame. Size 12"
These porthole paintings were inspired by the porthole view from a cruise ship, and the metaphor of our journey in the now and the adventure that awaits us. (Over 100 of them are floating on five different cruise ships in their on board art galleries.)
Now you can keep the view of the ocean with you wherever you are
Camille Schectman, known as De Camille, is an accomplished painter with formal training in England, Paris, and California, celebrated for her large-scale abstract and seascape works in mixed media—primarily oils layered over iridescent acrylics. Her distinctive process involves intricate, luminous layering, at times incorporating gold leaf or embedded diamonds, resulting in multidimensional surfaces that echo the dance of light on water. Her tranquil, meditative style invites viewers to experience serenity, inner reflection, and emotional healing, capturing the ocean's hopeful resilience and inspiring a deep sense of peace and self-acceptance. Her collections have received media recognition from People Magazine, Coastal Lifestyle, the Positive Vibes TV Show, on CBS and NBC and upcoming publications in other coastal regional outlets. De Camille works full-time in her studio where she often does commissions. Let her know of your art needs.
