About this artwork
I had the privilege of visiting the Svalbard archipelago aboard a very small ship. The vistas were the kind that I love most of all...ice and glaciers and more ice. There were several polar or "ice bears" around and I saw several examples of the tracks made from the bears playing on the glaciers where they would slide down for the fun of the ride. It really made an impression on me to see how the animals enjoy their own environment in ways that…
humans do too. There is lapis lazuli and pyrite mixed into the paint and the piece has a lot of impasto giving the feel of the ruts made from the sliding. Orange resonate to the sacral/ emotional chakra while yellow to the solar plexus or action chakra . Lapis impacts creativity, self expression and communication while pyrite, is a stone of protection and grounding This painting has beautiful playful energy and all the movement in the paint makes one want to dance and fly in complete joy which personally, I believe the bears do.
