This art photograph is part of my series < > dedicated to describing the skin of contemporary cities by focusing the lens on particular perspectives and combinations of building shapes, even those of different kinds. In this case, the work, taken in Berlin, Germany, features a large gray concrete wall in the background. In the foreground, on the left side, stands out a huge metal scaffolding erected to work on a building on the left, which… however is not shown in the photograph. The result of this perspective is a painting of essential geometric abstraction, highly decorative. Like all my works, this one is also printed in a certified limited edition of just 3 prints. This is print no. 2 of 3. Print no. 1 of 3 has decorated, since 2010, the entrance to the Architektenkammer Baden Wurttemberg University in Stuttgart, which hosted a solo exhibition of mine in November 2010.
Carlo D'Orta primarily uses photography as his medium, blending his extensive travel experience with an academic background in art and photography. His technique consists of "painting with the camera," capturing unusual perspectives of urban architecture and plays of reflection that, without post-production manipulation of forms, become almost painterly abstractions. His works invite the viewer to look at the world with new eyes, inspiring wonder and surprise at the invisible that surrounds us daily.
