About this artwork
She faces away, not absent, but sovereign. This piece is about the women I grew up watching create beauty without ever calling it art: in woven cloth, in beadwork, in pattern repeated until it became memory.
I work in cut paper because every edge is a decision you can't undo, just like identity. The geometric background is texture I carry inside me. The headdress bridges the ancestral and the personal. The blue beads cascading down her profile? Those… she chose herself.
She is not a symbol. She is a story still being told.
