About this artwork
Oil and pencil on black and white photographic grisaille on canvas.
London in a very daring composition based on the classic by Piero Della Francesca. An idealized vision of the city surrounded by nature.
This technique is my personal discovery and I still don't know anyone who does it in a similar way. I capture the landscapes with my camera to later compose them freely with the computer. Once the photograph is printed on black and white canvas,… I prepare it with a spatula with a transparent resin that produces that characteristic texture. From here the magic begins as I add the oil colors and texture that the painting, little by little, asks of me.
These paintings specifically have many brush strokes with a very thick texture and their final appearance brings them much closer to painting than to photography, which only involves a previous drawing on which to base it.
