About this artwork
I was fortunate enough to live for a few years in the village of Santo Domingo de Olivenza, where I enjoyed the sunrises from the Sierra de Alor.

Carmen Mira uses oil on wood as her primary medium. Her training is largely self-taught, with roots in Badajoz, enriched by her experience in Sintra. Her techniques alternate between the use of the palette knife to create intense reliefs in floral and vegetal motifs, and brushstrokes that bring vibrant skies to life, addressing themes from the landscapes of Extremadura and Alentejo. Her Impressionist works evoke nostalgia and serenity, conveying a profound balance and love for nature, inviting us to contemplate the rural world with respect and devotion.
