About this artwork
I am developing a contemporary artistic practice based on the layering of textures, the controlled application of resin and the use of acrylic paints with subtly modulated nuances.
My works are constructed through fragmentation. These lines and fissures structure the faces and create a tension between strength and vulnerability. The resin brings depth and luminosity, while the relief work reinforces the almost sculptural presence of the portraits.…
Through this assertive materiality, I explore transformation: the flaw becomes structure, the fracture becomes strength.
My approach aims to go beyond the surface to offer the eye an immersive experience, where transparency, depth and light interact.
Caroline Parra, an artist born in Nice, uses acrylics, spray paint, and engraving on linen canvas or 3D supports, drawing on her background in graphic arts and a family immersed in painting. She has developed a contemporary figurative style inspired by mosaics, combining resin, gilding, and fragmented lines to structure her portraits, creating subtle tensions between geometric rigor and emotional intensity. Her work, imbued with the influence of sacred Italian mosaics, reveals the beauty and light hidden within human flaws, expressing a profound strength and resilience.
