About this artwork
I like to walk in nature, and especially soak up the atmosphere associated with trees reflected in water. As I don’t work directly from nature, I rely on my memory and imagination of particular scenes and interpret what I have seen and felt in a way that suggests itself as I paint.

Catherine Imhof-Cardinal is a Swiss-French painter trained in sculpture and drawing at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, currently based in Scotland. She uses oils, oil crayons, and screen print paint on paper, combining figurative and semi-abstract styles through a spontaneous process where compositions emerge intuitively from dynamic lines. Her technique captures a vivid sense of colour, allowing memories and impressions of travel to surface as evocative images. Her artworks radiate the emotional nuances of her experiences, inviting viewers to feel the moods of places, moments, and encounters.
