About this artwork
The Moulin de la Galette, the Place du Tertre, The pink house, the Sacré Coeur, so many symbols that surround this magnificent district of Monmartre, one of the hearts of Paris, so alive, so dear to native Parisians since it is a of the oldest districts of Paris.
The artist wanted to paint this district not only because she loves it but also because a part of his ancestors lived there and in particular one of his grandfathers was the builder of… the Moulin de la Galette which was a high place of pleasure, of meetings, we danced there, we drank there.
From afar we see the Sacré Coeur, and at the foot, the districts of Paris which reveal themselves in pastel tones which give all the luminosity to the painting.
We were not mistaken, finished in June 2019, it found takers at the end of August at a hotelier in Montpellier.
Catherine Sénéchal comes from a family of painters and musicians and is taking over with panache. Self-taught, she has been painting since the age of 15 and has exhibited for 25 years in all the major Parisian exhibitions and renowned online galleries. The artist reveals an instinctive choice for choosing the right colors, the subtle nuances offered by oil painting. Looking at her painting is like forgetting the everyday and opening a door to a magical universe. She doesn't start with an idea; her paintings begin like a kind of puzzle, without a preconceived subject; she starts with her palette and the papers she selects according to her taste for colors. She possesses a great sensitivity where instinct guides her. Seeing in a different way, transforming conventions, these are the goals she has set for herself, and she achieves them brilliantly.
