About this artwork
There’s a wonderful oak tree in my backyard.
It’s bigger around than my arms can reach, and taller than my house, with branches that were symmetrical to where it looked like an illustration of the tree of life.
There’s a rusted axe blade stuck in the trunk from well before I’ve lived that’s already been grown over by the bark, leaving only a small corner of metal and a scar.
Recently, the telephone company came by, no notice, and removed the back… half of the tree because they said it would interfere with the power lines.
The sadness I felt when I saw it is what I tried to bring to page here.
