About this artwork
In a study of a country house in the hills of Northern Italy, characterized by a landscape of gullies, in the summer of 2020 the artist concentrated his work on a chromatic study inspired by the landscape immersed in summer light and heat. The chromatic choices, idealized and interpreted by numerous pastel studies, were preparatory to a series of paintings created in that period.
The painting "Towards the light" is one of the works in the series.… An animal figure, a cheetah, having reached the limit of a solid white volume, looks towards a luminous glow beyond the horizon: almost an omen of hope of getting out of the long lockdown period of those days. The oil color, applied with refined glazes, allowed a great chromatic brightness.
« Living with art, music, and poetry is a privilege. An eye that allows you to view life in harmony with nature. »
Cesare Reggiani is an Italian painter and draftsman whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in France, the Netherlands, and Germany. Through the search for a compositional synthesis, he endeavors to convey a sense of timelessness, stasis, and contemplation. Reggiani often depicts mirrors, the horizon, nature, and water with the animal subjects and white monoliths, which allows him to communicate a state of "timeless suspension". His distinctive pieces are created using oils on canvas.
