« Painting is like music. Each color is a note that vibrates different emotional strings. »
Chantal Proulx is a French-Canadian painter who has exhibited nationally and internationally, and whose works are held in private collections in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and North America. Her art consists of conveying the joy and beauty inspired by nature through color and emotion, in a spontaneous way, where the unconscious takes precedence over the conscious. She does not seek to represent her surroundings, but rather to create an emotion, an evocation of a place or an atmosphere. By choosing colors that create the right atmosphere, she spreads and mixes the paint directly on the canvas. As she adds details, a dialogue develops between her and the canvas. Several of her paintings are embellished with text in cursive script. Even as an expressive painter, Chantal pays particular attention to color balance and composition.
