About this artwork
Mixed media: ink drawing, acrylic and digital techniques, pigment printing on fine art paper, hand-enhanced.
Through this series of portraits, I explore the idea that identity is not limited to the face we show.
The eyes are often hidden, because the true gaze is not external but internal.
Bodies are composed of patterns, like intimate cartographies made of memories, cultures,… and personal histories.
Each character seems silent, but they carry within them a dense history, almost written on their skin.
My work lies between drawing and painting, between figuration and abstraction, between different cultural influences.
I seek to create timeless figures, like contemporary archetypes.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Nice, Charles Hassler, known as OXUNA, is a painter who has also worked in advertising. He uses a style close to naive art, alternating between bold colors and detailed, graphically complex details. His work, centered on characters, particularly women, highlights the intensity of the emotions hidden in their eyes. By exploring gazes, he captures the exoticism and emotions of travel, the soul revealing itself in a dance of colors and shapes.
