This painting is a mood provoking experience using muted tones and flat surfaces. It is part of a quadriptych series, painted in the artist’s studio in Malibu, California (USA) with classical music informing the paint strokes.
Storm #3 was applied with heavy, dense Series Four oil paint mixed with pastel and charcoal on high-quality, heavy dense watercolor paper that allows the pigments of the oil to dry flat.
The Artist’s intention was to create… an environment focusing on the negative space while emphasizing the positive space in a subtle way. Cool, neutral grays allow the eye to recede in space, bringing forward the positive through contrast.
« I pursue the process of making art with fearless efforts to be original, and most importantly to be in love with art. »
