It is a gestural work where color forms the line, amplifies it, making it vivid and fluid. I define my painting as a 'figurative expressionist' because the figure is important but it is not a rigid and realistic representation but far from it.

Chiara Abbaticchio is an exciting Italian painter who has exhibited her work nationally. Constantly searching for unity between line and colour, she composes works that balance form and material with both vibrancy and harmony. Her themes include female subjects that appear soft and independent, and urban landscapes such as New York's iconic yellow taxis and and scenes of everyday life. The co-existence of these themes presents an overall image of a modern society - ours - that is defined by continuous movement between individuals and environments.
