About this artwork
The painting separates the depopulated real world, represented by the young girl consulting her smartphone, and the virtual world, above the horizon line materialized by a hanging like a theater set.
I wanted to express the feeling of loneliness, the young girl finding no contact except her alter ego.
Christian Counord, a former teacher and visual artist born in Paris, excels in the innovative use of cement as a medium for artistic expression. Inspired by landscape artists (Aleksei Savrassov, Isaac Levitan) and American artists (Edward Hopper, Helen Frankenthaler), his style is similar to Expressionism, utilizing a unique technique that allows him to work over long periods of time. The palpable influence of tropical maritime landscapes transcribes a vision of the world through a mathematical prism, exuding a vibrant yet changing symbolic meaning.
