About this artwork
A bone cutter rises in the center of the image, dark and massive. Its purple-black carapace resembles armor, its pointed legs and pincers protrude threateningly in all directions. Placed on solid ground, it appears not as an ordinary animal, but as an archaic figure—hard, unyielding, and possessing an almost uncanny presence.
The surroundings are a flickering field of sharp patterns and garish colors, whose contrast creates a nervous tension. The… geometric surfaces evoke cracks, fractures, and fragments that surround the tailor crab like a menacing sentinel. It seems not to blend in, but rather to dominate the chaos. Its appearance is haunting, almost threatening—a symbol of strength, survival, and the uncanny hidden within beauty. After the return period, five chapters of my upcoming book, The Giant Squid, will be sent to you.

Christian Grzimek is a German painter with a background in craftsmanship who expresses himself intensively through abstract and conceptual painting. His technique is characterized by spontaneity, working on several paintings simultaneously, and the use of brushes, sponges, and everyday materials. His dark, horror-science fiction-inspired works, which allow for diverse interpretations, are particularly fascinating. His art invites the viewer to discover new thoughts and emotions for themselves—he loves it when everyone recognizes something of their own in his paintings.
