About this artwork
The abstract work depicts an organic-looking landscape composed of flowing, overlapping areas of color. Earth tones in ochre, rust, and brown form the base, from which shades of blue, turquoise, and yellow emerge explosively. Flowing, blending, and partially pressed structures create forms reminiscent of geological processes, vegetation, or microscopic life forms.
The composition appears as a snapshot of a natural process of creation – between… erosion, growth, and dissolution. The random traces, splashes, and textures lend the image a strong materiality and dynamism. Despite the abstraction, an associative landscape emerges, oscillating between macrocosm (the Earth's surface) and microcosm (cellular structure).
Stylistically, the work is in the tradition of European Informel and Abstract Expressionism, in which the painting process itself becomes the actual motif.

Christian Grzimek is a German painter with a background in craftsmanship who expresses himself intensively through abstract and conceptual painting. His technique is characterized by spontaneity, working on several paintings simultaneously, and the use of brushes, sponges, and everyday materials. His dark, horror-science fiction-inspired works, which allow for diverse interpretations, are particularly fascinating. His art invites the viewer to discover new thoughts and emotions for themselves—he loves it when everyone recognizes something of their own in his paintings.
