About this artwork
The purpose of all my works is for the viewer to experience the depicted scene in all its polarities, provided they are open to it. A dialogue arises, almost meditatively. This is not a one-way street. The sheer force of 4 square meters of depicted loneliness, abandonment, and cold accumulates into spontaneous feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. At rock bottom, hope begins to emerge. Like a seedling, it sprouts deep within, culminating in… the realization that only the self can save itself. Symbolized by the red shoes.
Christian Moll works exclusively with acrylic on canvas, allowing the painterly quality of his works to speak for itself. His technique oscillates between expressive figuration and free abstraction: sometimes he reduces strong forms to a few lines, sometimes he superimposes up to 30 lines into complex compositions. His work reflects emotional tension, inner complexity, and an intuitive creative flow, inviting the viewer to discover their own moods in the vibrant portraits and striking images.
