About this artwork
A lush bouquet of roses fills the left half of the picture with pink, red, and vibrant greens. To the right, a bright space opens up, where a deep blue provides a tranquil counterpoint. The eye wanders from the blossoms, over the curved jug, into the luminous area, yet always returns to the bouquet's rich colors. It is precisely this interplay of abundance and tranquility that gives the painting its unique tension.
The painting style is direct,… vibrant, and physical. The roses are not explained botanically, but rather emerge from energetic brushstrokes, impasto strokes of color, and open contours. Impressionistic observation of light resonates within this approach, alongside a more expressive, contemporary visual language. The objects arise from color, light, and movement; nothing appears smooth or decoratively finished. Thus, the painting combines the classical tradition of the flower still life with a fresh, free style of painting that instantly lends warmth, presence, and luminosity to a room.
I work with acrylics, oils, and oil pastels on canvas and other supports. Many paintings change over extended periods through overpainting, layering, and reduction, while others emerge very directly and quickly.
I am less interested in fixed narratives than in presence, atmosphere, and the tension between figure, space, and surface. Images are allowed to remain open and change during the creative process.
I studied fine art painting at the Bad Reichenhall Art Academy under Markus Lüpertz. My work has been shown in museum and exhibition contexts in Germany and internationally.
