About this artwork
A delicate balancing act between color, form and line, surface and space, abstraction and object, image and text. It is the lightness that leaps out at us in Lohrig's works. The colors are applied with relish and often reworked multiple times; the traces of the underlying layers always remain perceptible. She works with spray paint, neon, and pink.
Vibrant images emerge. Color is a barometer of mood.
Impressions, perceptions, and experiences are… translated into a highly individual visual language. Always on the lookout for stories and objects. A collector of absurd situations; always in the thick of things, curious yet reserved. An observer of daily life and nature.
Ready to look behind the facade – rebelling against a one-dimensional way of thinking, of nature, of life, of the splendor of colors.
« The impressions, experiences and situations that have fueled me life, that's what I capture in my pictures. »
Christiane Lohrig is a dedicated German painter whose works have been exhibited throughout France, Germany and Luxembourg. With a preference for abstract painting, she experiments with a range of materials including wallpaper, strips of which she tears on and off and reworks with oil and spray paint. Lohrig translates anecdotes and clichés into her own visual language, using colours, shapes and lines to make her canvases dance with images, objects and text.
