About this artwork
This moon painting is part of my Moon series, created during a period of adversity and personal change. Inspired by the moon’s cycles and the way light persists even in darkness, the work explores themes of renewal, hope, and inner resilience.
The moon is depicted with streams of light emerging from each section, as though a sun is rising behind it. For me, this symbolises the strength that exists beneath the surface during difficult times. Even… when we feel overshadowed by uncertainty, light continues to grow within us, waiting for the moment to break through.
This piece is a reminder that transformation often begins quietly. Just as dawn emerges from the night, hope and strength can reveal themselves when we need them most.
Clare Kenneally is a painter and visual artist with a background in fine art, design, mural creation, art education, and art therapy, working in mediums such as emulsion acrylics, pen, ink, and watercolour. She employs dramatic stained glass-inspired styles, with bold outlines and luminous colours, drawing from Gothic architecture and Irish folklore, often transforming subconscious symbolism into visual narrative. Her artworks radiate a dream-like intensity, holding space for struggle, resilience, and hope.
