About this artwork
Drift captures the moment when resistance diminishes and movement becomes possible again. The flowing blue and turquoise tones evoke both water and wind. Forms emerge, dissolve, and merge into one another.
Inspired by the Atlantic coast of Portugal, the work is reminiscent of a current forging its natural path, free, calm and without a fixed destination.
Nothing seems to be held onto. Instead, the image conveys a feeling of trust – in one's own… path, in change, and in the power of letting go.
Within the pairing "Return to Calm," "Drift" represents movement. It represents the courage to drift without losing one's bearings. It is the first step back to inner peace.
Together they tell the story of a journey between movement and arrival. Like ebb and flow, wind and coast, freedom and stability, these two states are inextricably linked.
The works unfold their power as a pair, but are also available individually.
Claudia Schwidrik-Grebe (Claude Contemp.Art) works with acrylic paints on unprimed canvas and has an art historical background, which has always remained present in her artistic practice. Her technique is characterized by free, spontaneous movements: the paint is poured, guided, and applied intuitively in interplay with chance – the process is raw, organic, and uncontrollable. Her works are a vibrant explosion of color, full of energy, and invite viewers to perceive and share human emotions in all their facets – her paintings are meant to be felt and create space for honest feelings.
