About this artwork
In the foreground on the right, a large, graceful parrot—my own association—dominates, its powerful, beak-like head occupying almost the entire half of the image. Its presence is majestic and mysterious at the same time, as if it carries a hidden message. To its left, soft pastel tones form abstract shapes that appear like a cushion upon which the angel emerges. The bird does not speak, it remembers; the angel does not answer, it shines. Between… them, a moment arises that sounds like a verse: strangely comforting, full of questions that demand no answer. The painting captures the instant when the everyday meets the supernatural, and language transforms into vision.
Claudette Griffiths, a trained painter and sculptor, uses collage/mixed media, acrylic and egg tempera. Through her playful use of colors and shapes, she creates works that find a balance between intuition and chance. Based on the emotional impressions that shape her encounters with people, Claudette constructs complex soul landscapes that range from feelings of happiness to insecurity. Her works invite the viewer to weave their own associations and discover personal messages.
