About this artwork
Pietà is a photographic reinterpretation of one of the most enduring themes in sacred art—the Virgin Mary mourning the body of Christ—rendered through the lens of contemporary digital photography. Drawing heavily from the aesthetic of the Old Masters, the piece seeks to preserve the emotional gravity and compositional refinement of classical painting, while translating them into a modern visual language.
Carefully composed with dramatic chiaroscuro… lighting, rich drapery, and reverent posing, Pietà explores timeless themes of loss, sacrifice, and human tenderness. It is part of my ongoing artistic mission to bridge the past and present—bringing classical techniques and symbolism into dialogue with modern tools and sensibilities.
In 2024, Pietà was awarded the Laudamus Prize for Sacred Art in the United Kingdom.
Archival pigment print on premium artist canvas or museum-grade cotton rag. Limited edition of 5, signed and numbered. Certificate of Authenticity included and registered.
